Dan’s clear, concise teaching style distills a wealth of complex information into very few words, making his classes easily understood by everyone and accessible to all.

Dan’s Story

At age 45, I was fit, but stiff as a board, so I took yoga classes at my gym. There were so few instructions that I had to look at the students next to me to figure out what to do. One day,  a friend took me to an Iyengar yoga studio. The teacher explained and demonstrated every asana in detail and gave me hands-on adjustments. She put me in a chair shoulder stand, where I experienced a level of freedom in my body that I had no idea was even possible. I was hooked and became an ardent student. As I learned more, I stopped getting injured in the gym, which further fueled my passion. In 2012, after Iyengar yoga therapeutics literally saved my life during a health crisis, I vowed to bring the gift of Iyengar yoga to others. I gave up my CPA practice and, after four years of intense study and work, I became a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and yoga therapist. Not being naturally flexible has been a gift that has enabled me to better teach those, like myself, to whom yoga does not come naturally. I love to modify traditional yoga asanas to help students challenged by inflexibility, health conditions and diseases.

Dan’s Values & Beliefs

I believe yoga is for everyone

Young or old, flexible or inflexible, well or infirm, fit or rusty, able bodied or not, all can benefit from yoga. I give my students modifications that enable them to achieve correct alignment in, and derive maximum benefit from, each asana.

I believe in the Iyengar method

The Iyengar Method of yoga is a progressive, systematic teaching style characterized by precise and safe direction, scientific sequencing and purposeful timing. We stay in each asana for a period of time, studying our actions and their effects. Iyengar yoga teaches and requires concentrated effort and depth of practice, resulting in strength, flexibility, awareness and a quiet mind. I teach only Iyengar yoga.

I value my students and their growth

My students are gifts from the Universe. It is through guiding and observing them that I further develop my skills. I am committed to helping my students grow continuously and safely in their practice, and to advance their knowledge and skills based on the limits of their ability and desire to progress.
